Oh holy mountains! I am hiking again!

Oh holy mountains! I am hiking again!

So into the mountains we go to loose ourselves and find our souls

Been quite a while since my last post!

What happened? Well, life happened to me and it has been pretty damn great. I have even married! He is the most amazing person and for that I could not be more fullfilled and happy. So a happy camel for sure. And I am thrilled to tell you Happycamel will now embark on a new hike! Not alone this time. Since I not only found someone which is amazing, but also is a passionate hiker we will do a 5 week honeymoon hike on the Pacific Crest Trail through the Sierra Nevada mountains and I literally can’t wait.

When you already have done a long hike before you sort of know all the brilliant things, but also the not so briliant things; blisters and struggles. Still I have been dreaming of being back on trail since the day I left and the thought of early mornings, mountains, dirt, struggles and hikertrash life makes my heart sing. I’ll do the blisters again I tell myself; no stress. Yikes. After I returned from my last PCT hike, everything in me changed and I think I will never stop longing for the uncomplicated simplicity of traillife.

26th of June we fly to LA and hope for some trailangel love to help us get to our starting point at Kennedy Meadows in South Sierras. We will from there hike up, up, up and climb Mount Whitney at 14505 feet; 4421m ; the highest summit of the US and I am so excited and hopeful that we will have the sunrise up on Whitney. That would be surreal. Then up and down several thousand vertical feet - who doesn’t love badass climbing and downhill-kneekill on a daily basis - as far as we can go on the time we have. Most likely we’ll end our hike just after Sonora pass, so we’ll have some time getting ourselves back to LA.

I will try though to make my feet feel better. My post hike sufferings was immense after the last hike; feet pain and weight gain and lots of hazzle with a prolapsed disc. But hey! Two years (two years?!… omg..) later I feel a bit better and ready to risk it all again. Well, this time we have lots more time, we’ll hike slower pace and shorter days; no racing 30 miles pr day.., and I will try to be even more ultralite. Two to share the load, less weight. Win, win. I will ENJOY EVERY MINUTE.

So slowly we have started the prep. Hiking with packs on as much as we can, planning our route and resupply and thinking alot of how wonderful it will be to wander off into the wild and have only ourselves. Oh yes.

Thank you for reading and following! I’ll keep the posts coming; there will be about gear, my other writing projects and our GoFundMe project Walking for Wild Horses. Stay posted!
